Cisco Framework

We revamped the navigation UX and UI for Cisco.com, enhancing the overall user experience.

The Cisco website has hundreds of products, thousands of pages, and millions of daily visitors. But it was built on several different platforms and tons of content has been added over the years, which is why their old site-wide navigation had morphed into a cluster of links with a weak structural hierarchy.

This made the navigation experience complicated and frustrating.

Our challenge was to redesign the site with a clearer way to navigate that remains within the Cisco branding guidelines

A peek into our months of design exploration

Step by Step

Once we had our style direction down, we made our first UI interactive prototype

To better visualize interactions and identify usability issues we mocked an interactive prototype (using HTML/CS) for the team to explore and the developers to replicate.

We had a couple issues dealing with difficult text contrast and confusing tab styling, so we started exploring more options.

And about 50 iterations later..

We settled on a new tab design, different colors, improved icons and overall architecture, which all performed well with users on both the desktop and mobile site.
Re-organizing the menu items took extensive communication with various Cisco departments to make sure that we kept all the important content while stripping away anything obsolete.
Oh! And did we tell you that we love making 3D renders? This mock of a Cisco product was created to show them how much cleaner, more cohesive and controlled their product pages could be if we created 3D rasterizations of each item.

Ignazio Lacitignola

Founder & Designer

Meet Ignazio, affectionately known as “Igi” to friends and colleagues. An Italian designer, creative and entrepreneur who finds it a bit peculiar to refer to himself in the third person, but he’s willing to do so for the sake of this bio.

From his earliest memories, Ignazio’s mind has been a canvas of creativity, and his love for digital design ignited as soon as he could afford a computer and an internet connection that wasn’t the sluggish 56k dial-up.

Growing up in the less glamorous corners of Milan, Italy, Ignazio defied the odds, earning honors at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti without ever brushing shoulders with the law.

Following his heart’s call, he ventured across the Atlantic to San Francisco, USA, to immerse himself in the startup and User Experience world. It was here that he kickstarted his journey with Meno Design, a digital design studio dedicated to distilling complex digital experiences into their essence, while learning through experimentation.

In Ignazio’s eyes, every piece of design is a potential masterpiece, an artistic expression in its own right. His ongoing challenge is harmonizing his meticulous attention to detail, sometimes bordering on OCD, with the practical timely demands.

Beneath his approachable and calm exterior lies a delight of colorful Italian cursing that surface whenever he stumbles upon poor design choices—though it’s worth noting that he’s incredibly friendly, and a simple “ciao” is always welcomed.
