Heyo! Welcome to the MENO Mistakes Blogcast! MENO mistakes is all about this one big question:

Her work orbits around the objects in our lives: the things we buy, the things we discard, and the collectivity and social interaction that can arise from cycles of consumption. Via illustrations, daily documentation, publications, events, large-scale participatory projects, client work, and a full-time role as educator, Kate’s work invites a dialogue about contemporary forms of exchange.

She creates rules and lives by her rules. In the words of Kate “rule based projects RULE my work”. Almost all of her non-client work operates on some sort of rule structure. The project she is best know for is drawing 2,900 daily purchases for 8 years straight.

Kate is the Associate Director of the Art+Design School at Portland State University and an Associate Professor of Graphic Design. Her position as both leader and collaborator with her students is an integral part of her creative practice.
